The European Union regards the implementation of European directives and technical standards as a condition for a product to enter the European market. So far, CEN has completed more than 600~700 safety standards. In the category C standards, there are 16 standards related to rubber and plastic machinery, and these standards are formulated by 14 working groups in TC145.

At present, most of China's rubber and plastic machinery and plastic machinery safety standards adopt European EN standards. The European Standardization Committee CEN is the main provider of European standards (EN) and technical specifications. The European Union has established dozens of safety-related standardization technical committees since 1985. Among them, CEN/TC145 is specifically responsible for formulating "Rubber Plastic Machinery Safety Standards" technical committee.

In addition to the 16 standards that the member states of the European Standardization Technical Committee must abide by, some developed countries have also adopted these standards to varying degrees.

The contents of these standards generally include definitions, hazard lists, safety requirements and measures, verification of safety requirements and measures, and safe use information in the safety requirements of each product.

On December 2, 2010, Mr. Claudio Celate, Chairman of CEN/TC145, and his team exchanged views on the standardization of rubber and plastic machinery between China and Europe with the National Standardization Management Committee and the National Rubber and Plastic Machinery Standardization Technical Committee in Beijing. During the exchange, through the introduction of Chairman Celate, we learned several pieces of information:

       (1) TC145 is responsible for formulating and revising technical standards for rubber and plastic machinery in Europe. The standard itself is not mandatory, but European directives require that rubber and plastic machinery products must meet the corresponding safety and health requirements. When the EN standard formulated by TC145 is not used, Relevant certification documents are required to show that rubber and plastic machinery products have met the corresponding safety and health requirements. Judging from the current statistical data, basically 100% of rubber and plastic machinery products in EU countries comply with the TC145 standard, because compliance with the TC145 standard is the most convenient and effective method.

       (2) At present, Chinese enterprises are paying more and more attention to the European market, and more and more Chinese rubber and plastic machinery have entered the European market. However, although some Chinese rubber and plastic machinery products have CE marks, they do not fully comply with the TC145 standard.

(3) CEN/TC145 newly established the 17th working group in December 2009, the working group for tire shaping and curing machines, which coincides with the national standard for the safety requirements of tire shaping and curing machines formulated by our SAC/TC71, which shows that The two parties have the same goal in promoting the safety performance of rubber and plastic machinery products.
